Hi Guys,

I hope you had a fantastic Easter and didn’t gobble up too much chocolate!  My husband Steven and I went for a long walk on Easter Sunday followed by a delicious roast dinner we cooked together.  It was my friend’s birthday so we had a big quiz on Facetime with all our friends, it was lots of fun.  I came second! : )  Have you done any quizzes?  Maybe you could write a quiz for your family.

This week I have completed the 5K Run for Heroes challenge and donated £5, I then had to nominate 5 friends (they weren’t too pleased hehe.)   I have still been working out with Joe Wicks in the mornings as well as trying some yoga.  I have painted my hallway and spruced up my garden by pruning some of the plants and bushes.  The weather has been lovely this week so I have read my book in the garden, I hope you guys are still reading.  Please keep reading and practising your handwriting and spellings.  You can find your year group’s common exception spelling words here -   https://www.twinkl.com/search?term=common+exception+words.

Remember you have some activities on Active Learn and you can use the White Rose home learning resources.  Why don’t you try answering as many multiplication questions as you can and time yourself, challenge yourself to get quicker each time.

Has anyone tried separating a soil sample from the soil in your garden?  Collect a sample of soil about 10cm deep, put it in a plastic bottle and fill with water.  Leave for a few days and see whether the different materials separate.  What do you notice?  What parts have sank?  What has floated to the top?  Can you remember what we call the dead parts of plants and animals we find in soil?  Can you remember why soil is important?  Maybe you could produce a leaflet or a poster explaining why soil is so special.  You could watch this video to give you some ideas.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z9bbkqt/articles/ztvbk2p

I have a special challenge if you choose to accept.  I would like you to transform a piece of recycling in your house into something useful.  It could be an old cereal box, plastic bottle, milk carton, shampoo bottle, clothes etc.  You could have a look at this link to spark your imagination.  https://www.google.com/search?q=recycling+objects+for+kids&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwjnx-TjnOroAhUE2xoKHRzKBfsQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=recycling+objects&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQARgCMgIIADICCAAyAggAOgQIIxAnOgQIABBDOgYIABAIEB46BAgAEB46BAgAEBhQkswMWKzlDGDq8QxoAHAAeACAAZsCiAHnDpIBBTkuNi4ymAEAoAEBqgELZ3dzLXdpei1pbWc&sclient=img&ei=KeKWXqePLIS2a5yUl9gP&bih=657&biw=1366

Please take some pictures to show me for when we get back to school, I would love to see what you amazing ideas you superstars come up with.

Can’t wait to see you all soon, I miss you all LOTS and LOTS,

Lots of love,

Mrs Griffiths and Mrs Heitzman.
