Celebration of the Word at St Hugh of Lincoln RC Primary School
At St Hugh of Lincoln RC Primary School, the daily celebration of the Word of God is at the heart of everything we do. Rooted in our Mission Statement—“We will nurture, guide, educate and develop all our children on their journey with Jesus”—our acts of worship provide sacred opportunities for our school community to grow in faith, love and service.
Each day, we gather in prayer, reflection, and song to deepen our connection with God and to reflect on His Word. These moments of worship help us to centre our lives on Jesus, to live out the Gospel Values, and to consider how we can become more faithful, loving and courageous in our actions.
Inspired by our patron saint, St Hugh of Lincoln, we encourage all our children to live with integrity, just as he did. St Hugh stood up for what was right, defended the vulnerable, and lived out his faith with great compassion and strength. His example challenges us to be brave in standing up for others and to live our lives in service of truth and justice.
Our Celebration of the Word nurtures a strong sense of togetherness and belonging, supporting each child on their unique spiritual journey. It encourages personal growth, moral development, and a commitment to living as disciples of Christ in today’s world.
To ensure our school remains authentically and distinctively Catholic, we offer a wide range of rich and varied worship experiences throughout the year. These include whole-school liturgies, class-based worship, and celebrations with parents, parishioners and the wider community. We also embrace the beauty of creation by using our school grounds and nearby natural spaces to inspire awe and wonder during acts of worship.
At St Hugh of Lincoln, the Word of God is central to school life. It guides us, inspires us, and shapes our mission—to nurture, guide, educate and develop every child on their journey with Jesus.
