Our Aims and Values
At St Hugh of Lincoln Roman Catholic Primary School we pride ourselves on being a happy, caring and welcoming community, where the learning environment and the wide range of opportunities offered, help every child reach their full potential and make the most of the gifts and talents given to them by God.Inspired by the life and example of St Hugh, our school is built on the values of faith, compassion, integrity, justice and service. These values shape our ethos and guide in all we do.
Faith
St Hugh trusted God and prayed a lot. He believed God would help him do the right thing. Having faith means believing in God and trying to live in a way that shows love and respect for Him.
Compassion
St Hugh cared deeply about people who were sad or in trouble. He didn’t just feel sorry for them—he helped them. Compassion means understanding how someone else feels and wanting to help them feel better.
Integrity
St Hugh always did the right thing, even when it was hard or when no one was watching. He kept his promises and told the truth. Integrity means being honest and doing what’s right, even if it’s not easy.
Justice
St Hugh wanted everyone to be treated fairly. If someone was being treated unfairly or badly, he stood up for them. Justice means making sure people get treated in the right way and not letting others be treated unfairly.
Service
St Hugh spent his life helping others. He worked to make his community a better place by giving his time and energy. Service means doing kind things for other people without expecting anything back.
We are committed to:
Fostering a deep love of God through prayer, worship, and Catholic teaching;
Creating a safe and supportive environment where all are treated with kindness and respect;
Encouraging children to act with honesty and responsibility, making choices rooted in Gospel values;
Promoting fairness and inclusion, standing up for what is right and protecting the dignity of every person;
Inspiring a spirit of service, where children use their gifts to make a positive difference to the world.
Together with our families, parish, and wider community, we strive to help each child flourish spiritually, morally, and academically – living, learning, and growing in the light of Christ.
The Gospel values underpin the growth of each person’s spirituality and the spiritual development of our school community. They bring a comprehensible structure to our work as Catholic educators and, crucially, allow the children to see their growth as ‘children of God’ in a rewarding and diverse way.
