Today our reading ambassadors informed us about the amazing new books available in our school library due to the money raised from the school book fair!
The children dressed up as a word of their choice today for World Book Day and took part in an assembly, live lesson, a range of discussion cards (oracy focus), creating their own book cover art and even received a free book of their choice!
6J have had a great day celebrating World Book Day. We had a fun in assembly playing charades (children 6 : teachers 7), singing and dancing. We took part in a live lesson with schools across the country and we all got a new book to take home and read!
We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day in Year 1. After our whole school assembly we played charades in class, looked at a selection of books and wrote about our favourite book characters.
All the children have received a book to enjoy today. There was a great selection to choose from.
Y6E enjoyed the BBC live lesson whilst filling in their mission packs.
Year 1 read The Shopping Expedition by Allan Ahlberg and then enjoyed thinking of their own challenges to overcome on a shopping trip. They thought of erupting volcanoes, angry robots, charging rhinos and swirling tornadoes! When all the books were complete the children loved reading them to each other.
Today we were visited by the author Matt Goodfellows who shared with the class how to complete ‘rebel writing’ poetry!
Today the children were exploring persuasive writing and we looked at an example text in class, working in pairs to highlight examples of the key features such as facts and statistics and rhetorical questions. We will right our own persuasive piece about why bullfighting should be banned!
