Year 1 were exploring things in our local environment to see if they were alive, dead or never alive.
Year 1 have been exploring mass this week. We have been looking at the vocabulary heavier, lighter and balanced.
Year 1 have been exploring measuring. They looked at measuring with standard and non standard units. They really enjoyed finding out how many pencils long they all were!
Year 1 were looking at different Bibles to explore similarities and differences. This was to help them understand how a message can be changed slightly when passed from person to person. This is what happened to the Bible stories before being written down.
On Friday, the children had the opportunity to participate in a session about Bhangra dancing. They were taught some Bhangra dance moves and then had the chance to play the Bhangra drums.
Today we had an external artist come in to talk to the children about African Masks. They discussed how these masks are inspires from Nigeria and the Igbo tribe culture. The children then designed and made their own African mask.
Year 1 completed an experiment on Friday to investigate if the children in our class with the smallest hands also had the smallest feet.
Year 1 were exploring the different parts of the human body. The children labelled different parts of the body.
Our classes have made a fantastic start to the new term! Pupils have been settling in, getting to know their teachers, and enjoying lots of exciting activities. We are so proud of the enthusiasm and hard work shown already and look forward to sharing more class news with you soon.
