Image of Missing You!

Hi Year 4,

Can you believe it’s been a week since I last wrote to you? Hope you and your families are continuing to stay safe and you are all still smiling! As you can see from the picture, I managed to bake a cake and it was delicious!! Although to be honest I did use a cake mix as I couldn’t get any flour anywhere, but I was still quite proud of myself. Have any of you been doing any baking?

This week I’ve been making phone calls to the class, it’s been great speaking to your parents and sometimes yourselves. I’ve really enjoyed finding out about all the things you’ve been up to, from planting crops in your garden to dying your hair blue!! Thank you, Florence and Jackson for your letters, I loved reading them and George M your volcano video was amazing. If anyone else wants to write me a letter or post a video of anything you’ve made or been up to you can send it to smitha@st-hughlincoln.trafford.sch.uk.
I’ve continued to make the most of this wonderful weather and spent a lot of time in the garden with Lucy, Ben & Mrs Smith playing lots of football, netball and table tennis. I’m also trying to run 5K three times a week, I try to beat my previous time on every run. There’s been lots of PE challenges set online for you to attempt. I’ve been posting a different challenge on our twitter page every day set by the Trafford School Sports Partnership, give them a go and you could win a sports badge.

Are you still managing a couple of hours of school work each day? Mr Mountcastle has updated the letters page  with some more links to new websites that will help you. One of them is the BBC Bitesize lessons that you can access through their website, (bbc.co.uk/bitesize/daily lessons). You can also find daily lesson videos and programmes on the BBC iPlayer or, if you prefer, you can watch them on your television between 9am and 11am via BBC Red button. The Government have also launched a new website: The Oak National Academy (www.thenational.academy) which has a variety of different lessons. We were about to start reading the book ‘Escape From Pompeii’ written by Christina Balit, so it would be great if you get a chance to read this which you can read on YouTube. This fits in with our topic on volcanoes. Maybe you could write a recount as if you were there in Pompeii or write a poem about volcanoes using lots of adjectives and powerful verbs. You could even email me these!
Today is St George’s Day, the patron saint of our country, another task you could do is find out about St George. There is one very famous story about him, can any of you tell me what that story is?
That’s all for now Y4, I’m missing you all so much, stay safe and remember keep smiling.

Lots of love, Mr Smith & Mrs Walker
