Dear Parents/Carers,
We hope you are all safe and doing well. This week’s learning is all around the story ‘Handa’s Surprise, the children can hear me reading this to them on the WhatsApp group or they can watch a video of this story on You Tube. There are activities linked to this story which can be found on a separate ‘Handa’s Surprise Activities’ sheet on this blog, please click on the link to access them. One of the activities is a special task, it asks the children to find out one fact about Africa the continent that Handa lives in, I talk to the children about this task on the video so I’m hoping it helps with the Home Learning! I have also mentioned this task in the letter to the children on this blog. The children can share the fact with their friends and teachers by either drawing a picture, writing a sentence or telling us about it on video. The children’s learning can be posted on the WhatsApp group or emailed to their teacher (dohertyr@st-hughlincoln.trafford.sch.uk or breenj@st-hughlincoln.trafford.sch.uk). Please remember if you wish to join the WhatsApp group email us and we can add you to it.
This Friday is VE Day, there are lots of activities and resources on Twinkl which you may wish to use. Please remember there are also lots of websites to aid learning, here is a reminder of some of these:
Phonics-daily lessons from the DFE on YouTube, games and resources also on Phonics Play. Reading books can be found on OxfordOwl.co.uk and Collins.co.uk. Maths games on Active Learn (email if you need your child’s log in) and there are also Maths lessons on whiterosemaths.com. You can share some of your child’s learning on EExAT if you wish to but please do not feel pressure to do this. Remember all of this is just a guide, do what you feel is suitable for you and your child, the most important thing is well-being and so much can be learnt purely through PLAY!
Please do get in touch if you need to, we are happy to help.
Best wishes,
Mrs Doherty, Mrs Breen and Mrs Neville
