Hello to you again Year 5

As I sit writing this, I see the dark clouds and rain outside and I can’t help wondering when the lovely sunshine will return! It can be a bit harder when you’re stuck inside but I’m sure you have got lots of things to keep you occupied.

To begin with, you have got the week 11 home learning plan to work through:

I hope you are managing to complete lots of the activities.

As I was preparing the plan, I really enjoyed finding out about Jane Goodall, who dedicated her life to learning about and protecting chimpanzees. Have you decided to create your poster about her life and achievements or have you chosen a different naturalist?

This is the last week on our Anglo Saxon theme in history so you might want to think of a way to end your booklet- I’m sure they look great!

Our next topic in history is going to be the Vikings- more about that in next week’s plan.

On Friday (June 19th) we celebrate the feast day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is always celebrated 19 days after Pentecost. Here are some activities you could try on this feast day.

Maybe say this prayer together or use it in your own liturgy about the Sacred Heart:

Lord Jesus Christ, your heart was moved with love for the men and women who came for help in their need. You healed the sick, you fed the hungry, you forgave sinners, you cried over Jerusalem. Above all, you showed to those who were prepared to listen the way to true life, for you are the Way the Truth and the Life.

Lord, your heart is still moved today by your people and their many needs. Open our hearts to hear your word, to accept your love and to respond to your call.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

Amen.

Create your own picture/ painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus- you could choose a classic style or go for a more modern interpretation.

You’ll find lots of examples on the internet.

Make heart shaped biscuits to share with your family.

Research the life of St Margaret Mary Alacoque. Watch this short clip about her life:

Did you enjoy the quiz that I put on last week’s letter? Here is a link to some more quizzes that you might like to try- test your knowledge on lots of different subjects!

Don’t forget it is Father’s Day on Sunday- maybe you could make your dad a card.

Have a great week everyone, keep busy and stay safe
