Rock hunters
As part of our science learning we went on a rock hunt to see what different rocks we could find.
Then we talked about them in terms of their properties to decide of they were sedimentary, igneous or metamorphic.

Counting our collections!
We used our treasures from our Autumn Walk for our Maths learning today. Once we had sorted the objects into sets we talked about which set had more or most items and which had fewer or fewest. To check we used 5 frames to line up the items using 1-1 correspondence.

Geography - Looking at an aerial plan of our school
Year 1 loved looking at the plan of the school. They could find their classroom, the school library and even Mr Mountcastle's office. Mrs Atherton was really impressed at how the children could find their way around the school.

Leaf Man

Comparing Numbers
Year 1 had lots of fun today comparing numbers. They used conkers, pine cones, counters and numicon to work out which numbers were greater than and equal to. Next lesson lets work out less than!

Autumn Walk
Year 1 enjoyed their Autumn Walk around the school. They spotted colourful crunchy leaves and sparkly cobwebs with a spider on it. After half term Year 1 will visit Lostock Park and look at how Autumn has changed the trees.
